Featured Presentation

Extended Events, A Better Profiler

Speaker: Peter Tran, Sr. Technical Lead PROS Revenue Management

Summary: Abstract: The writing is on the wall, or in this case it is in Microsoft’s documentation that SQL Server Profiler is deprecated and will be discontinued in a future release. SQL Server Profiler is a handy tool, but it’s time to use a better tool. In this session, we’ll learn how to use Extended Events to replace SQL Server Profiler. To use a well-known cliché - it’s time we let go of the past and move on to the future. Extended Events are the future! Bio: Peter Tran works for PROS Revenue Management (NYSE: PRO) as a Performance Architect specializing in server-side performance optimization and tuning on Oracle and SQL Server. During his spare time, he’s surfing the net looking for more camera equipment to buy hoping it will improve his photography skills or taking Coursera classes.

About Peter: Peter works for PROS Revenue Management (NYSE: PRO) as a Sr.Technical Performance Lead specializing in server-side performance tuning on Java, SQL Server, and Oracle. Peter holds both MCTS and MCITP certifications. He's presented topics on SQL Server performance at the annual Houston Tech Fest and Java tuning at the Houston Java User Group (HJUG). When he's not busy studying for his SQL Server Master Certification (MCM), he indulges in his other passion - photography. You can find his rambling at tranpeter.blogspot.com.
