Geekin’ Out on Extended Events

Speaker: Janis Griffin, Senior Sales Engineer Quest Software

Summary: Extended Events are used to gather a wide range of performance information to help troubleshoot performance problems in SQL Server. The system_health session is an Extended Events session that is included by default with SQL Server. This session starts automatically when the SQL Server database engine starts, and runs without any noticeable performance effects. This presentations will take you on an in-depth tour of the data provided in the system_health event session and how to use it to troubleshoot

About Janis: Janis Griffin has over 25+ years of DBA experience including design, development and implementations of many critical database applications. Before coming to Quest Software, Janis held many DBA positions working with both real-time network routing databases and OLTP business to business applications. Janis has spoken at many SQL Saturdays as a Database Performance Evangelist and mentored many DBAs / Developers on best practices in database performance tuning.
