Deadlocking for Mere Mortals

Speaker: Jonathan Kehayias, Principal Consultant SQLskills.com

Summary: While troubleshooting deadlocking in SQL Server has gotten easier in SQL Server, it continues to be a constant source of questions in the forums online. This session will look at the most common deadlocks asked about on the forums, and how to troubleshoot them using the various methods available to DBA’s in SQL Server; including Trace Flags, SQL Trace, Event Notifications, and Extended Events.

About Jonathan: Jonathan Kehayias is a Microsoft Certified Master of SQL Server 2008 and a SQL Server MVP. A senior consultant at SQLskills.com, he started with SQL Server in 2004 as a database developer and report writer. After spending 2 1/2 years working in T-SQL, in late 2006, he transitioned to the role of DBA. In early 2011, he joined SQLskills.com full time, focusing on his primary passion of performance tuning. He frequently rewrites queries for better performance.
